Hallie Herbert is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, adjunct professor, mother of two school-age children and spouse of a retired military service member. Former colleagues and clients have noted Hallie as exceptionally compassionate and creative in her abilities to deliver innovative, accessible and effective therapy.
Hallie received her Master’s degree from Chaminade University of Honolulu where she graduated Summa Cum Laude. Her work over the past 15 years has spanned variety of settings including The Salvation Army’s Addiction Treatment Services, Comprehensive Adolescent Treatment Center, Fleet & Family Support Center and The Wellness Center at Point Loma Nazarene University.
Key specialties in Hallie’s practice include a focus on children and young adults with developmental and psychological challenges, military families and couples experiencing infertility. Her therapeutic approach aims at establishing a relationship with her clients that encourages their expression of thoughts and feelings without fear of judgment in order to allow for greater insight and promote positive life changes. She is particularly skilled in providing support and resources to parents of children who are exceptionally sensitive, struggling academically and/or socially, experiencing difficult transition into school, or demonstrating increased anxiety, defiant, aggressive or regressive behaviors. Hallie also understands the particular challenges of families, both civilian and military, who are geographically distanced from either extended family or who lack a reliable and trusted network of friends. We are all under increasing demands from society to do and be more as we raise our families and make our way in the world. Hallie believes that therapy is not only for major events of mental illness, but for everyone who simply needs some additional support with life’s demands and uncomfortable challenges.
With her therapeutic approach largely influenced by the philosophies of Virginia Satir, Murray Bowen and David Burns, Hallie is able to provide information, support, new perspectives and specialized techniques to assist your efforts toward creating a life more closely aligned with how you always imagined it could be.
