Marriage and Family Therapist Registered Intern
As one who has a strong desire to help others, fostered through my marriage and family therapy training as well as my own personal life experiences, I am committed to providing spaces where clients who consult me can feel heard, cared about, and an absence of critical judgment, because no-one can fever truly know what it is like to walk in another’s shoes. Furthermore, it has been my goal for the better part of a decade to use myself and my training to help others connect with inspiration, discover possibilities, and a maintain a sense hope for a meaningful future, even in the midst of their most challenging and trying of times.
My past counseling experience and education has afforded me the privilege to work at a non-profit community counseling center using a private practice model that accepts cases of all kinds. This enabled me to help couples, families, and individuals who all vary greatly in culture, socio-economic status, as well as desires and expectations of therapy. I continue to offer my sincere services to those struggling with a variety of issues and challenging circumstances, including depression, anxiety, as well as couples and family conflict and distress.
I am passionate about applying postmodern theoretical ideas with clients as well as in my own life, to create a socio-cultural awareness that provides a greater understanding of how we experience ourselves, others, and the problems that enter our lives. I have found that examining the cultural backdrop of our day to day lives has had the effect of greatly expanding the options and possibilities we see as available to us along our journey towards a unique and preferred destination of well being.
The combination of my personal life experiences, training, and passion for improving the lives of others allows me to provide compassionate and authentic care, and be a humble and effective driving force of change to those I gain the privilege to serve. I received my Undergraduate Degree in Psychology, as well as my Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from San Diego State University, CA.
