Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
Allison Brownlee is a licensed marriage and family therapist, specializing in individual, couple, and family counseling. Allison earned her master’s degree from Alliant International University and is completing her doctorate education in their Couple and Family Therapy program.
Allison offers a casual and comfortable therapeutic environment where clients feel safe and are free to share without judgment. Allison specializes in helping individuals and couples understand their feelings and shift their patterns to promote positive changes within the individual and in relationships.
Individual Therapy: Allison has experience working with depression, anxiety, trauma, addiction and recovery, disordered eating patterns, and managing relationship and family distress. Allison helps clients to understand their feelings and behavior, and works with her clients to develop more effective coping strategies.
Couples Therapy: Emotionally Focused Therapy promotes healthy attachment in adult romantic relationships. Allison helps couples to increase their trust, safety, and connection in their relationship. Often couples seek treatment because they are stuck in rigid patterns, “having the same fight over and over again,” Allison helps clients to break this pattern and find new solutions to old problems. Allison has experience working with couples struggling with depression, anxiety, infidelity, drug addiction, and trauma.
Allison believes that being a therapist is a privilege and she promotes an environments of openness and acceptance of her clients. Allison understands that not all interventions or treatments work the same, or are best for everyone entering therapy, she tailors her treatment to each individual or couple, and promotes solutions that work for the specific client and issue. This approach offers the flexibility and safety needed in the therapeutic relationship to create lasting change for the client.
