Developmental Therapist

My current role at the Family Guidance and Therapy Center is a Developmental Therapist with kiddos at the Hillcrest and Poway after-school sites. I have worked with a wide range of populations and continue to do so as a part of the field education required for the M.Div (Masters of Divinity) that I am currently working on. Currently, I am doing volunteer chaplain work at the Veteran's Home of California in Chula Vista by visiting with residents at the Veteran's Home. Previously, I had done some of my field education at Vista Detention Facility in Vista, California. There, I worked with deacons and priests bringing the Eucharist to inmates, with some pastoral counseling, and Bible Studies. A little on that: Although I go to a Catholic college USD, my theology has always been what they call "progressive." This makes sense because I am of the Episcopal faith.

My approach to the kids is modeling a "whole heartedness" that is always about expressing and connecting in a way that is authentic, vulnerable, and caring, as well as boundary-oriented. I think this along with RDI helps the kiddos connect more deeply with the people around them as well as other things in their worlds. My personal interests are taking cruises (I just went to Alaska), reading, writing, jogging and going on hikes.
