FGTC Clinical Supervisor, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
Maia is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who specializes in counseling teenagers, young adults, and families. Maia has experience working in higher levels of care including residential, intensive outpatient, and partial hospitalization with all populations. Maia has a diverse understanding of many disorders and is specifically passionate in helping teenagers, young adults, and their parents navigate the ups and downs of transitioning to adulthood.
Maia believes that no two clients are the same; as such, each client must be committed to creating an individualized treatment plan to guide their treatment during the beginning stages of therapy. This helps Maia collaborate with each client to make sure they can get the most out of therapy.
Maia has training and experience in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Therapy, and Satir Communications. When working with clients with trauma, Maia utilizes Cognitive Processing Therapy, an evidenced based form of therapy used by the VA to treat veterans with PTSD. Outside of providing counseling, Maia works for Vista Hill Foundation to evaluate special education students for Educationally Related Mental Health Services (ERMHS) throughout San Diego County.
