Is Anxiety from the Coronavirus Crippling Your Life?
Being anxious in the face of a world-wide pandemic is normal but it is possible to let your anxiety take over to the point that you are unable to perform even daily tasks.
So how do you move forward with your life without letting the anxiety win?
Take a break from the news
Yes, you need to be able to know if your children's schools are shut down but no you do not need phone alerts dinging you every time a new case or death is reported. Drowning yourself in the media can cause your anxiety to stay at a high level all the time. It is ok to turn it off.
Take care of yourself
Self-care is not a cliche, it is a valuable stress management technique. Take a bath, take a run, take a deep breath and remind yourself that everything will be ok. I like to buy coloring books, for kids or adults, and color with my kids to turn the sound down from the rest of the world.
Talk to Someone
Do you ever wonder why they call it 'venting' when you release all of your pent up stress by talking it out with someone? Because you are literally venting your steam buildout before you EXPLODE! Talking, venting, whatever you call it, it can lighten your load and help ease your anxiety burden.
