An Autism Diagnosis Can Be a Foundation for Growth

We’re here to guide and support you through this journey. A diagnosis isn’t just about identifying challenges—it’s about uncovering your potential and creating a foundation for growth. Contact us to learn more or schedule your assessment today.

At the Family Guidance and Therapy Center, we celebrate neurodiversity and believe that a diagnosis can be a transformative, empowering experience. Understanding your place on the autism spectrum can offer the gift of self-awareness, fostering self-acceptance and clarity about your strengths, challenges, and needs.

Why Seek a Diagnosis?

Unidentified autistic individuals may go through life feeling out of place, misunderstood, or struggling with mental health and well-being. A diagnosis can provide a framework to understand yourself, improve relationships, and access support.

Our Neurodiversity-Affirming Approach

We use a systematic and compassionate process to ensure that every evaluation is thorough and tailored to your unique experience. Our assessment includes multiple sources of information, combining interviews, questionnaires, and in-person testing to provide a well-rounded understanding of your strengths, challenges, and developmental history.

What to Expect

  • Initial Paperwork: Complete forms and questionnaires to provide background information.
  • Intake Interview: A deep dive into your developmental history and current experiences.
  • Comprehensive Assessments: These may include tools to measure social communication, daily living skills, sensory processing, and cognitive abilities. We also screen for co-occurring conditions like anxiety, ADHD, and depression to ensure an accurate and holistic diagnosis.
  • Informant Input: We value insights from people who know you well, which may include family, friends, or partners.

The Benefits of Cognitive Testing

Understanding your cognitive profile helps us evaluate key areas such as intellectual strengths, executive functioning, and how these factors interact with your ASD traits. Whether you excel in certain areas or face specific challenges, this insight ensures your diagnosis and recommendations are uniquely suited to you.

Expert Care

Our evaluations are conducted by highly trained professionals under the supervision of Dr. Jessica Hobson, a licensed clinical psychologist with over 30 years of experience in autism diagnostics.
