Getting Started with Therapy in Petaluma
Frequently Asked Questions
What insurances do you accept at your Petaluma office?
Our Petaluma clinicians accept Aetna, Cigna, Anthem, Blue Shield of California, FEP Blue Shield, and Magellan. Coverage varies by clinician, so we recommend calling to verify your specific benefits before your first session.
What is RDI® therapy and how is it different from ABA?
Relationship Development Intervention (RDI)® is a developmental, relationship-based approach to autism therapy that focuses on building dynamic thinking, emotional connection, and real-life independence. Unlike ABA, which is primarily behavioral and therapist-directed, RDI® is parent-centered — empowering families to guide their child's development in everyday settings. We believe this leads to more meaningful, lasting growth.
What is an AMFT and can they provide therapy?
An Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT) is a fully trained clinician completing supervised hours toward licensure. They provide the same quality of evidence-based therapy as licensed clinicians at a more accessible cost. All AMFTs at our practice are supervised by licensed clinical supervisors.
Do you offer autism assessments in Petaluma?
Yes. Our Petaluma office offers comprehensive autism assessments for children, adolescents, and adults, as well as re-evaluations, developmental evaluations, psychoeducational evaluations, and independent educational evaluations.
