Meet Alicia Fong!

Alicia has been a part of the FGTC family for one year and currently works with children with autism and their families. She earned her master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at San Diego State University, where she completed her clinical training specializing in play therapy with elementary school children. Alicia loves to incorporate playful art, music, dance and lots of humor in her therapy sessions. Alicia has a gentle and intuitive approach to connecting with clients. She believes that a great therapist is one who can see, reflect and support the unique strengths in all individuals, amidst the suffering and difficulties that they are experiencing.

At the end of the day, it is very rewarding seeing the lives of my clients and my own grow side by side.

Tell us a little bit about yourself.

I am an MFT associate currently working with children with autism at FGTC. I have lived in San Diego for 7 years and before moving here I lived in Canada, Spain and Panama (where I am originally from).

What inspired you to work as a therapist?

My personal therapeutic journey has served as an inspiration for me to become a therapist.

Explain your personal value words and why they are important to you.

Creativity and Intuition are key to finding solutions when we get stuck in life.

What is unique about your work with clients?

I love incorporating expressive arts, technology and lots of humor in my therapy sessions.

What’s the most challenging and rewarding part of your work?

My work as a therapist challenges me to be a pro in taking care of myself and be authentic by "walking my talk". At the end of the day, it is very rewarding seeing the lives of my clients and my own grow side by side.

After a long work week, how do you de-stress or unwind?

Listening and dancing to my favorite music is the best way for me to unwind after a long work week!

Tell us a funny story about yourself!

Sometimes I can hear myself snoring in the middle of my sleep...
