Diagnostic re-evaluations confirm the continued presence of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) to meet requirements for insurance, schools, or benefits, ensuring the diagnosis aligns with the latest DSM-5 criteria.

Ensure You are Getting the Support You Need

Research shows that diagnostic re-evaluations are crucial for maintaining accurate and up-to-date diagnoses, especially in conditions like Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). A study published in Journal of Autism and Developmental Disordersfound that regular re-evaluations, typically every 2-3 years, help ensure that diagnostic criteria remain consistent with current clinical standards and facilitate continued access to necessary services. These evaluations are particularly important for ensuring that individuals continue to receive appropriate interventions, educational support, and benefits, as diagnoses can evolve or change over time with new information or developmental progress.

Diagnostic re-evaluations are less comprehensive and time-consuming than an initial diagnostic assessment, focusing specifically on confirming the continued presence of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) clinical criteria.

These evaluations are often required for insurance purposes, schools, colleges, or benefits to ensure the diagnosis remains current and consistent with the latest DSM-5 criteria. Insurance companies may request re-evaluations every three years to authorize continued behavioral services, while schools or institutions may require updated diagnostic confirmation to maintain access to resources or accommodations.

At the Family Guidance and Therapy Center, we offer an efficient and cost-effective re-evaluation process overseen by a licensed clinical psychologist (Dr. Jessica Hobson) and supervised psychological associates. This streamlined service is designed for children and young adults under 20 years of age, with options for adult re-evaluations or add-on diagnostic assessments available upon request.

How Autism Diagnostic Re-Evaluations Work

Our diagnostic re-evaluation process includes a background questionnaire and a semi-structured parent interview to gather detailed developmental and behavioral information. Parents complete questionnaires to assess their child’s social-communication symptoms and adaptive functioning skills. The evaluation also includes a direct in-person or virtual social-communication assessment to observe current behaviors and interactions, as well as a thorough review of previous records to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the child’s history. After these components are completed, a detailed report is prepared, and a feedback session is provided to review findings and recommendations.

This service is offered at a flat fee of $1,700, with a 50% deposit required upfront and the balance due upon report delivery. If you or your child require a diagnostic re-evaluation to maintain access to services or fulfill insurance or institutional requirements, contact us to schedule your re-evaluation. Our team is dedicated to making this process straightforward and supportive, ensuring continuity of care and services.
